The other day I stumbled across one of the best Pinterest Boards I’ve seen in a while, maybe ever. (I literally squealed aloud in delight upon spotting it). It’s a board dedicated to street art (mostly of Cape Town graffiti) and it clearly belongs to a very talented person with great taste. Carole Moreau – whoever you are – thank you for the visual delight that your pretty photos bring! (See all of Carole’s great photographs of street art on her Pinterest board here).
Here are some of my favourite street art pics of hers:
The above graffiti pieces were done by a multidisciplinary street art collective called Boa Mistura – I am a quite a big fan. Clearly. Their work is striking and powerful – beautifully intricate and detailed, they ironically convey simple but clear messages to anyone in possession of an open mind and/or a hungry eye.
The original, evocative pieces of Boa Mistura speak for themselves (see their amazing portfolio here) but what I think I respect them for the most is that they really engage with the communities in which they work. They seem to get a true sense and feel of and for the environment. They come across as an earnest and curious bunch and I think that it’s these humble qualities that almost amplify Boa Mistura’s uncanny ability to uplift and capture the spirit of an entire community in one single mural.
Okay, enough groupie talk now, promise! So before I end this post, here’s just one more of Carole Moreau’s photos that I absolutely love. This fine piece of street art was done by Faith 47 (who also friggin’ rocks):
